RAIL PARK PROWESS

RAIL PARK PROWESS — DAY #4 OF THE ROCKSTAR BYERLY TOE JAM
Presented by O’Neill

With the highest number of riders all weekend, the Rail Park portion of the Rockstar Byerly Toe Jam saw nearly 40 riders competing for one of wakeskating’s top honors today at The Projects outside of Orlando, Florida.

After hours of riding behind the Sea-Doo WAKE Edition PWC, the judges had some tough calls to narrow the field down to four. In the four-man final, we saw Reed Hansen, Matt Manzari, Ben Horan and Grant Roberts take to the water, each with a five-minute session and unlimited falls. Hansen was solid all day, throwing multiple flip tricks and solid rail hits like his switch boardslide big spin. Manzari went gonzo with several shove variations off the rails and a huge inside-out varial flip. Horan always bring style to the table, landing his signature kickflip and perfect back lip shove. Roberts put together a long, complete run, with many solid rail hits and a frontside 360 shove.

The results will be announced tonight at the Arnette Awards party in downtown Orlando at The Social. All the awards will be presented as well, including the coveted overall Toe Jam Title. SUSPENSE LINGERS AFTER DAY ONE OF THE ROCKSTAR BYERLY TOE JAM

SUSPENSE LINGERS AFTER DAY ONE OF THE ROCKSTAR BYERLY TOE JAM
Presented by O’Neill
photo: Rodrigo Donoso

25 of the world’s best wakeskaters killed it today behind the Nautique 210 Byerly Icon Edition boat, kicking off day one of the 2011 Rockstar Byerly Toe Jam at The Projects outside of Orlando, Florida.

The four-man head-to-head final consisted of Brian Grubb vs. Stu Shinn and Nick Taylor vs. Reed Hansen. Taylor rode amazing all day with several clean moves like his toeside backside three, but his finals run was not enough to take down Hansen. Grubb also advanced past Shinn, even with Shinn’s hammers like his clean frontside big spin.

The head-to-head final was everything we hoped for — a complete throw-down between the two winningest boat riders in Toe Jam history. Grubb threw down first and Hansen followed with an equally impressive run. The winner will be announced on Saturday evening at 9 p.m. during the Arnette Awards Party in downtown Orlando at The Social.

Until then, we will disclose the two final runs and you can discuss your opinions online at http://www.facebook.com/Toe.Jam.Wake.Event

Brian Grubb’s Final Run (all wake-to-wake)
HS Stale / TS Shove Indy / HS FS Shove / TS FS Shove / Nosegrab HS 360 / TS Indy / TS FS 360 / BS 180 / Wrapped TS Nosegrab BS 180 / HS Front Big / TS Front Big (fall) / TS Front Big (fall)

Reed Hansen’s Final Run (all wake-to-wake)
HS Stale / Switch HS 360 / Nosegrab HS 360 / Switch HS Mute Big Spin / HS BS Shove / TS BS 180 / HS BS 360 / HS BS 180 / Switch HS BS Shove / HS Mute Big Spin / Switch HS 540 (fall) / HS Shifty / HS BS 540 (fall)

Scott Byerly was way impressed with what he saw today, “The riding today was on a higher level than I’ve ever seen,” Byerly said. “It’s amazing what these guys are doing out there. They definitely made myself and the Byerly boat proud to host a throwdown like this.”

This four-day lifestyle event will feature four different categories of riding with champions crowned in each. This will also determine who is the best wakeskater on the planet, because the rider who accumulates the most points overall will take home top honors. 2011 boasts the biggest purse ever at a wakeskating event with $20,000 up for grabs. Anyone is welcome to attend, but if you can’t make it, be sure to tune into http://byerlytoejam.com for a live webcast!

The founder of the Toe Jam, Scott Byerly is impressed with all the new talent, “More people are entering, with new faces and sick riding,” Byerly said. “We’ve brought it back to The Projects so the vibe that we started with still remains. We want everybody to have a good time and see the best riding, that is what the Toe Jam will always be known for.”

Everyone will celebrate on Saturday night at 9 p.m. at The Social in downtown Orlando for the Arnette Awards Party and the winners will be honored. Riders are encouraged to register now, in order to avoid late fees assessed after 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday Aug. 30.
